Our Dentist at My Gentle Dentist @ Arana hills,  have special training in removing  teeth under local anesthesia and are very competent and quick.

While many teens and some adults get their wisdom teeth removed, there are other reasons why tooth extraction may be necessary in adulthood.

Excessive tooth decay, tooth infection, fractured teeth beyond repair, can all require a tooth extraction. Additionally, those who are undergoing chemotherapy or are about to have an organ transplant may need compromised teeth removed in order to keep their mouth healthy.

Tooth extraction as performed at My Gentle Dentist @ Arana Hills is a relatively quick outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia. If need be, we use HAPPY GAS for patients with fear and anxiety of dental procedures.  Removing visible teeth may be accompalished with a simple extraction. Teeth that are broken, below the gum line and or… are impacted require a more involved procedure known as Surgical Extraction.

Also, tell your dentist about any of the following conditions:

  • a congenital heart defect

  • diabetes

  • liver disease

  • thyroid disease

  • renal disease

  • hypertension

  • an artificial joint

  • damaged heart valves

  • adrenal disease

  • an impaired immune system

  • a history of bacterial endocarditis

How much does a tooth extraction cost?

The cost for tooth extraction varies widely depending on whether the tooth is impacted. Simple extraction usually costs between $200 and $250 per tooth.

However the cost of surgical extraction could vary from $300-$400 depending on the complexity of the procedure involved. Your dentist at My Gentle Dentist @ Arana hills will  quote you for the entire procedure before performing the same and make sure you are comfortable with the costs.

How to prepare for a tooth extraction

Before performing the procedure, your dentist will take an X-ray of your tooth. Be sure to tell your dentist about any medications you take as this might affect / change the extraction protocol.

At My Gentle Dentist @ Arana Hills, we take thorough medical history to make sure our patient’s overall health is safeguarded.

Your dentist may want to make sure all conditions are stable or treated before you undergo the tooth extraction. You might be prescribed antibiotics in the days leading up to the procedure if:

  • your surgery is expected to be long

  • you have an infection or a weakened immune system

  • you have a specific medical condition
